Congratulations LESA CLANIN on being the winner of the HARVEST BASKET RAFFLE!
Thanks go out to everyone who purchased raffle tickets and to all the businesses that donated items for the basket. We raised $750 for library programming!
The library will supply one small pumpkin to each participant while supplies last.
We are happy to announce that our library has been chosen to receive a grant from Altrusa of Dekalb-Sycamore in the amount of $400 to purchase new, hardcover children’s books for our Summer Reading program. We are very grateful for this gift! Altrusa’s mission is “to promote Community Service, with an emphasis on literacy, and to create fund raising opportunities that provide resources for designated projects.”
Join us at the library on Saturday, May 7th from 10am-12pm and make beautiful paper flower bouquets to present to Mom on Mother’s Day! Children under 10 years old should be accompanied by an adult or older sibling.
OLIVIA MONTEIRO is the WINNER of a $25 gift card for her VISUAL JOURNAL entry in the 2nd Annual ICHS ART GALLERY hosted by the library. Congrats, Olivia!
This year the Flewellin Memorial Library will be participating in The Big Read, a national program that offers grants to support organizations in developing community-wide programs which encourage reading and participation by diverse audiences. We’d like to invite members of our community to join us in reading the book In the Time of Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. The library will host a book discussion and showing of the film starring Salma Hayek. If you are interested in participating with us, give us a call at 815-824-2079, email at email@example.com, or stop in. Those who participate will receive a free copy of the book. Please let us know by March 1st if you’d like to participate. The film showing and book discussion will be scheduled in March pending the amount of interest shown.
